dear Abbey (lol), I have searched the internet far and wide on the topic of veganism and bloating and you're one of the few I've gotten specific info from. for me bloating showed up after 10 years on a vegan diet, as well as constipation and digestive issues. I assume this has smthg to do with hormonal changes (??) my eating didn't change nor anythg else. Anyway, thanks 🙂

Drink extra water to move along all of the fiber! And SOAK. YOUR. BEANS. Cook some of your veggies too. And ease into it.

I tried putting a tablespoon of turmeric powder into my green tea. Then I took a walk. My tummy feels so much better now. For breakfast I had crock pot beans and that has caused my bloating and stomach pains.

I rarely experience bloating, thankfully, that is until I decided to eat vegan for eight weeks. I planned my meals, snacks and eagerly started. The food was fine, delicious and filling but I started bloating. It was uncomfortable enough for me to use probiotics, very little help, and the bloating became painful. I was in pain all day, making me unproductive and grouchy. I decided to stop my vegan trial and my bloating ended and hasn’t returned. I still enjoy plant-based meals regularly, just not exclusively.

Abbey, my preteen son loves to eat beans and legumes more than any other foods, but they give him such bad gas and flatulence! Other than reducing his bean intake, are there any healthy strategies I can encourage to reduce that effect? Thank you so much for your wonderful videos!

Literally took me five years to realise I was sensitive to ONIONS – you know, the first thing I'd put in the pan when cooking anything 😪

I find that cooking (sauté, roast, steam, …) makes the vegetables easier to digest.

I think that many vegans who face being bloated & constipated may be affected by eating so many phytoestrogen-laden foods! I'd been doing a modified FODMAP diet and doing great- but had I recently added a teaspoon of flax (the motherlode of phytoestrogen) and tablespoon pumpkin seeds (also fairly high in phytoestrogens) daily – and whoa – after a week, I've gained weight (without adding calories) and am bloated & on the constipated side. Something to consider!

Probably one of the best and most detailed video I've seen on this topic. Thankyou, this was really helpful as I recently went plant base. Also, thankyou for clarifying about Fodmap diet because the Dr introduced this to me years ago and I literally sprinted from the office as he made it out to be a long term thing rather than a short term elimination process. I think it's important that Medical Drs clarify this.

Onions and corn trigger my bloating big time. This video along with Alicia Harper's vegan probiotic guide helped me a lot. Thanks Abbey 🙂 !!

In the case that I am waking up one night with a bloated belly – generally due to meals with a lot of salads and vegetables -, I shall take 1 oz (= 30 ml) castor oil in my mouth and mix this there with the saliva vor 30 min before swallowing this one. In this manner castor oil will lose its bad taste and 1 to 2 hours later the bowel cleansing will begin irresístibly. So I have always some filled bottles with 1 oz castor oil in the closet of the bathroom.

I've been vegan for over a year and even before I was vegan, I ate a lot of legumes and high fiber foods. Upto 40 g a day I can handle without any issues.
However, now I'm trying to gain weight and do extensive weight training, so I need to increase calories, fat and protein. However, needing to eat more food means that now I need to consume 80-90 g of fibre to hit my target of 2,500 calories.

Any suggestions on how to control my fiber intake while increasing the amount of food I eat. Thanks a ton!!

The meat diet causes a very short amount of time to be spent on chewing, for me at least, because meat has always been disgusting. That doesn't help to not chew that much as a practice, plus things like Broccoli and Kale must be cooked as they cause problems even powderized if not cooked. Then you add in the change from cheese and eggs to solelty plant food, causes problems. Also all my fat was digested, dumping toxins and poisons stored in it from my old diet with cheese and sugar, etc..

Won’t stop testifying to the world about your kind gesture how you cured me off genital herpes thank a lot Dr Awole on YouTube…

Fiber is not digestible in the human body. That’s why people have such a hard time with the vegan diet besides it being an unnatural diet.
