Excellent interview! so interesting. Jon should write a book.

I think vegans are dying out. COVID killed the movement. I hear fuck all about it these days in Australia. Most vegan products are no longer for sale in our super markets. Non vegan Businesses have realised they don’t sell. I’m in ice cream manufacturing and I can tell the vegan products have very low sales. I can also tell you they are made using the shittest ingredients money can buy

I lived in a vegan community in the 1980s (macrobiotics) and noticed that children reared on that vegan diet (no junk foods, but very high-quality foods like brown rice, beans, sea weeds, very little veg oil, all organic, no sugar, etc) were significantly smaller than normal children. I don't mean a little smaller, I mean way smaller than normal kids of that age. I remember visiting one of the macrobiotic teacher's home and seeing his kids for the first time, and was shocked at how short they all were. From what I understand this phenomenon of stunted growth was the norm of all children raised on this vegan diet.

I enjoyed this podcast. Jon Venus is very candid about his experience and observations. I think he is very brave to make an honest disclosure. I wish him the very best.

    Well… For his Kids life

Almost every younger aged vegan and ex- vegan I've listened to on YouTube has used Accutane at some point. I wonder if they promote veganism? There got to be a correlation.

  • at 3:05 pm

I've been following Jon since the beginning! He and I have gone through so many similar things with veganism and health issues and diet, and watching his story has helped me SO much over the last couple of years. Love you Jon!! So glad Shawn interviewed you!!

Love listening to stories of other people who’ve had their beliefs confronted and been strong enough and honest enough to stare into the cognitive dissonance abyss till it resolves and you can integrate new information… thanks Jon

someone I know went vegan and their teeth deteriorated within months. 2 fillings in a year, after a decade of no fillings.

A whole family in New Zealand was feeding their kids soy milk (within their vegan diet). They developed rickets.

My friend's child was too small. When he got to teenage years, she asked me what she could do to help him grow taller. Since they are vegetarian rather than vegan (due to religious regions) and already eat plenty of veggies, pulses and some nuts, I recommended upping the organic milk/cheese, perhaps some high quality whey powder with training and he did grow tall. Not ideal perhaps but at least it seems to have worked.
He is going to be a doctor and then decide for himself how to eat.

Great to hear a guy who made his living promoting veganism give that up because he discovered it was harmful to him and his family. Kudos to him.

  • at 10:11 pm

My grandfather was a vegetarian; born in the late 1800's, it's not new.. (even veganism)

  • at 10:25 pm

Jon blocked me on YouTube because I critised veganism when he still was a vegan but I still like him and wish him and his family the best.

No surprise vegan kids are small. Just look to the world at different nations. Compare Scandivanian nations who always ate lot of meat and especially milk and its products vs Indians, Vietnamese etc. who historically ate way more plant foods. And it is not about race. Asian people can get bigger as well when they are nourished properly in their childhood.

Should be illegal to put kids on a vegan diet. Pure gambling with their health.

  • at 3:51 am

Saw this guy on Paul Salidino quality stuff

  • at 12:09 pm

I followed Jon before he was a vegan. I admire his strength in having to put with the horrendous abuse that he has to endure. I pray success for him and his family going forward – surpassing what he had before!

Why are vegan kids smaller? Due to no intake of growth hormones from meat? I mean, people in middle ages and in past were generally much shorter than people nowadays and it has been claimed that they didn't eat much meat. I assume due to more general availability of meat and heavy calorie diet, kids have grown bigger. Dunno.

Anyone have an issue with sleep, fatigue and dark puffy eyes on carnivore diet?

  • at 2:49 pm

Jon, thank you for sharing your story, I admire your courage and honesty. 🥰

The fact that Jon received death threats from vegans proves that long term Veganism can promote mental illness, or that unbalanced people are attracted to Veganism. Putting kids on a vegan diet is so wrong. Women breastfeeding while consuming a vegan diet are losing so many minerals, etc., to the baby.

I was below average height till high school. Parents were poor but when we had more money we started hitting the buffet 3 times a week. The grocery store dumpster started throwing out meat more and more, My parents were health conscious, read prevention magazine and Rodale books. They were into the "healthy" grains, tofu, dad experimented with macrobiotic diet. I wanted beef, chicken deep fried in lard, liver seafood. Discovered duck eggs and ones I started cooking for myself I was almost 100 percent animal based foods, Grew to 6'6" tall by 25. Feeling great at 54, too skinny in my opinion but feel strong and healthy. Had tried vegan lifestyle at times but the effects were horrible. I do eat vegetables to this day but my diet has been at least 60% meat by volume. Admittedly I really enjoy broccoli or cauliflower cooked with onion in the fattiest ground beef I can find. Eaten with a hard cheese…Love it!

You can now get more likes and loves than ever from the carnivore community. It's all in the research and we have been "fooled" for so many years.

Veganism as some sort of a moral choice is a mental illness borne in ignorance. So glad Jon and his family escaped from this cult. I went full carnivore in Feb to lose weight and feel better and it has surpassed expectations. Whenever the weight loss levels out on my current eating schedule I'm going to try adding some things like tomatoes, mushrooms and onions back in, but the sugar and processed foods will be almost non-existent – but my wife's choc chip cookies are so good they are worth leaving Ketosis for once a year around the holidays…

Thank you for this info. I am super curious about the vegan religion. Their faith is admirable. I also love eating a nice steak and learning about it.

  • at 1:42 pm

I didn’t know his story. Thank you for having him retell it. Sometimes videos people jump in I don’t mean you I mean other people and just take off without really knowing the background

  • at 1:44 pm

I did the same thing in fact I have the movie. I went to veganism got zero support from my family and was harassed so badly I had to quit. I’m glad that I quit but now my granddaughter is and my daughter praises her supports her and I’m like where was that when I was doing it? And then my mom kept saying I don’t know what to feed you I don’t know what eat. And I kept telling her mom it’s simple I don’t eat meat. And now all I eat is meat and she doesn’t say a word

  • at 2:16 pm

I suffered for over 20 years with loose stools. I thought it was just me that it was just my life. I realized in the Atkins days that it was Splenda but I refused to quit using it. And when I did quit it still continued. It wasn’t until I started carnivore that things really changed in that area. I am much better

  • at 11:17 pm

Yes, it should be banned. It's a religious cult that is a threat to human health.

  • at 8:39 am

There have been cases of in Australia and other places where babies and toddlers were harmed by veganism. I put a link earlier but it was removed by the censors. In one case a 20-month-old weighed just 4.89kg, looked like a three-month-old and had no teeth. It was disappointing that the "parents" did not go to prison. When my son was little he drank lots of milk, eggs, meat and fish. He grew very tall with healthy straight teeth, he was more robust, strong than other children and did very well academically, When grand children come along they will be eating egg yoks, liver, meat , fish and quality dairy.

  • at 11:04 am

Awesome step out Jon! Don't sweat the hate and shade. Great video.

  • at 3:31 pm

Very Happy for you Jon. Be healthy and live well!!! I have same experience!! No public display as you have.

  • at 10:32 pm

What a great show. Jon put his ego aside to put his family’s Heath before all the haters. My family found it interesting when I went carnivore for awhile to use the diet as a tool to find what disagreed with me. No bashes at all. I’m no longer a carnivore but I have a very heavy meat based died.

  • at 5:59 am

Good on him for being honest with himself, most people can’t even do that.
